Ingredients
  

  • 4 pieces Cooking Apples Bramley apples preferred
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 15 g all-purpose flour
  • 7.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50 g Demerara sugar
  • 300 g Blackberries wild or cultivated
  • 30 g cold butter or vegan alternative, cubed
  • 240 g Self-Raising Flour or plain flour with a pinch of baking powder
  • 250 g golden caster sugar or white granulated sugar
  • 5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 115 g cold butter or vegan alternative, cubed
  • 45 g Demerara sugar or optional, crushed cookies for extra crunch

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss them with lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, and Demerara sugar in a large baking dish.
  2. Gently fold the blackberries into the apple mixture, then add the cubed butter on top. Cover the dish and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. While the filling bakes, prepare the crumble topping by mixing flour, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the butter and rub it in until crumbly.
  4. After 20 minutes, remove the dish from the oven and top with the crumble mixture. Sprinkle crushed cookies or Demerara sugar on top, then bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  5. Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream, custard, or cream.
